Classic Car Exhibition

November 29th, 2015

Vintage cars from Mexicali, Tecate, Rosarito, Ensenada, Mexicali, San Felipe and the USA fell into line in front of El Dorado's Pavillion Restaurant today, burnished, buffed, polished, spit-shined and rubbed with microfiber rags until the sun glanced off bumpers and brightwork like flash bulbs. Multiple layers of urethane paint and clear coat made the colors incandesce enough to screw your eyes shut.

There was a lavish turnout of automotive talent, -restored Impalas, Belairs, Novas and Valiants for the Boomers, and a passel of beautifully refurbished and renewed older trucks and Henry Ford hand-me-downs, for those who still remembered their grandfathers and rich uncles. There were a few gender-bender contraptions as well, thrown-together creations born of desert-heated imaginations. But in all, a very enjoyable display of vehicular regeneration.
