LOS ANGELES CA .- After the draw held at the headquarters
of SCORE International, Rob MacCachren was chosen to
be in first position of the Trophy-Truck class for SCORE's
"Challenge of Champions", to be held
in San Felipe September 9-11, 2011.
San Felipe's new race replaces a similar one traditionally
held in Las Vegas, Nevada, which was canceled due to
the high insurance costs that were required in that
area, Score International reported in a press release.
There are already 125 registered participants in categories
17 Pro and 2 Sportsman classes for cars and trucks.
The veteran runner MacCachren, 46, who is a six-time
winner, was named All-American Motorsportsman.
Among his achievements are three awards for First Team,
eight SCORE championships and he was the winner of this
year's Mastercraft San Felipe 250 in March.
McCachren drives the number 20, MasterCraft, a Ford
F-150, presented at the SCORE Trophy-Truck division
for hi-tech, powerful engines, with 850 horsepower under
the category of trucks of unlimited force
For his victories in the Trophy-Truck category, including
the first this year to win the race in San Felipe, MacCachren
has eight points in his favor.
"It is always good to start first and it's always
fun to be part of something new, but we are very familiar
with the area and the circuit is done in San Felipe,"
said MacCachren.
"San Felipe is one of the favorite places for
desert racers and we look forward to the next race and
seeing the race fans, off the road, of course. I will
miss Primm and not running in my home state (Nevada)
near my hometown (Las Vegas), but things happen which
are beyond our control and if we can't compete in Primm,
I cannot think of a better place than San Felipe."
The race will begin at 7 am Saturday September 10 and
the start-finish line will be located next to San Felipe's
landmark Arches.
The vehicles will leave line in intervals of 30 seconds.
It is expected that the fastest vehicles will complete
the more than 250 miles course in about four hours.
All vehicles will have an 11 hour window to complete
the race.
The mechanical review will be held on Friday, September
9, from 10:00 am to 17:00 pm, at the picturesque Malecon
in the heart of San Felipe .
The registration of media will be held at Hotel Hacienda
Don Jesus and the awards will be in Plaza de la Conservation
Malecon on Sunday September 11.
Among the other drivers who start are Justin Davis,
class 1, the brothers Arturo and Abel Velazco in Class
1-2/1600, Sergio Salgado in class 10, and Rafael Navarro
IV in SCORE Lite.
