During 2007, The Baja San Felipe Magazine had
a strategy (it came late in the year so managed to avoid
being a 12-Step-Plan) to determine a number of 'San Felipe
Bests for 2007'. Ballot boxes were established in prominent
locations in town and covered 60 categories, from Best
Architect to Best WiFi location (with beer). The editor
of this web site regrettably informs you that, despite
a public plebiscite and impartial ballot-counting (unlike
one other peninsula over 400 miles long), Blueroadrunner
was chosen San Felipe's best web site.
So what went wrong? In a country where bribes, nepotism
and corruption rule, how did a little guy manage to bob
to the surface of an e-pond filled with larger cyberfish,
each with much deeper virtual pockets?
Is it possible Blueroadrunner's victory owes a debt of
gratitude to G.W. Bush? Is it possible the man's ability
to inspire loathing compelled the deciding 'Best of San
Felipe' voters to board earlier planes for Iowa and New
Hampshire, determined to keep a Republican blight from
again settling on the tired shoulders of a weary American
electorate?
It's nice to think this may be a viable explanation.
It proves the SOB was good for something.
Blueroadrunner wishes to thank everyone who voted for
it. And for those who would have voted otherwise but had
to leave beforehand to cast their ballot for Obama, Richardson
or Kucinich, --thanks for saving America.
