MEXICALI, BC .- The
first meeting was held between the Committee of Tourism
and Conventions in Mexicali (COTUCO) and Aéreocalafia,
ostensibly to express interest in creating a route to
San Felipe from Tijuana, as it would provide an exclusive
service to Northwest market.
The objective of this project is mainly to attract
tourists from the coastal area of the state and make
available the warm waters and climate of San Felipe,
putting the port on the map as a choice for a leisure
and recreational destination.
The Tijuana-San Felipe route would also facilitate
flight transfers and would become a determining factor
for tourists who travel to other destinations.
Aereocalafia is an airline that operate flights to
the port of Guaymas, Puerto Peñasco and Los Cabos,
and is also a connection between the cities of the northwest
state of Baja.
For this reason the general manager of Carrier, Ricardo
Anaya, taking into account the airline's experience
in connecting the Northwestern destinations, also said
that the proposal made by the director of the Tourism
Committee, David Rojas, is quite viable because of the
increasing flow of visitors to the port of San Felipe.
He looked forward to San Felipe becoming a link with
the other tourist destinations handled by Aereocalafia's
routes.
David Rojas expressed his interest in the consolidation
of this proposal and would help with the feasibility
of tourism promotion projects that are underway to attract
tourists to northern Baja.
