Hobie Cat Regatta

The Hobie Mid-Winters West is an annual event in the bay of San Felipe, Baja, Mexico. Usually held in February, this Hobie Cat Regatta, as the race is called locally, brings contestants from all over the United States. Associated with the North American Hobie Class Association, the Mid WintersWest event is a well-organized affair that offers participants opportunities to socialize with each other during fish taco dinners and margarita parties.

REGISTRATION

The registration fee for this Regatta is $45.00 for Hobie Waves, 14’s and 17’s and $50.00 for Hobie 16’s, 18’s, Tigers, 20’s, Foxes and 21’s. No regatta registration fee will be required for youth sailors under the age of 18.

2006 HCA membership is required to compete in this event. For advertising purposes, this regatta is a category C event (ISAF Appendix G). Two free shirts will be provided for $50.00 entries, one free shirt for $45.00 entries received by January 27, 2006. There will be a $20.00 late fee for registrations postmarked after 1/27/06. You may pre-order extra shirts for $15.00 each. Make checks payable to Midwinters West.


TROPHIES
Trophies will be based on pre-registration. Five or more pre-registered boats constitute a fleet, one trophy per five boats. Maximum, five trophies per fleet.

OTHER
This Regatta will be governed by this NOR (except as altered by the Sailing Instructions), 2005-2008 Racing Rules of Sailing and the class rules of the IHCA.Sailing Instructions will be available at on-site regatta registration. 2006 HCA Membership and Comp Tips are mandatory.

Bring cat wheels as every effort will be made to run as many races as possible, regardless of tides. Articles of clothing and canned goods will be collected at regatta registration as gifts for local fisherman. Please do not mail donations; bring donations to the regatta site.
