RIP Marguerite

San Felipe, Baja, Mexico

Marguerite HaneyThe ever-changing face of San Felipe has lost another of its mainstay features. 'Marguerite' Haney passed away at Scripps Memorial Hospital in Encinitas.

Marguerite was the sister of Bob Haney, noted DC Comics script writer during the 60's and 70's.

Marguerite was a well known fixture at local mixers and dances, easily found in a dark crowded room by the flashing lights in the soles of her dance shoes.

She had a passion for painting and rendered several local wall murals.

Over the last few years, Marguerite was having trouble maintaining her standard of living. Small royalties from re-releases of some of her brother's work helped to make ends meet, but physical challenges caused by accidental falls debilitated her to the extend her friends persuaded her to enter a care facility in California.

Karen Bradley, of former Baja Java acclaim, had Marguerite moved to a better facility and cared for her during the final months.

For a long time to come Marguerite will be missed, especially when digital pictures of upcoming festivals and events are sorted through by the photographer, who will undoubtedly be startled by her absence in all of them.

There will be a Memorial for Marguerite at the Pavilion in El Dorado, July 21, 4pm. BYOB, a dish and your favorite photos of Marguerite.
