Located upstairs on the corner of Chetumal and Mar de Cortez near the Malecon, Baja Java offers its customers the best variety of gourmet coffee in town as well as fresh baked goods, cold drinks and fruit smoothies, a selection of hot and cold sandwiches using white or whole wheat home-baked bread, and country-style breakfasts. The coffee beans are freshly ground and can be bought in bulk on the premises. House blends range from medium to dark roast. And if you enjoy a toasted bagel in the morning, Baja Java offers a wide variety straight from the oven. Choose from white, whole wheat, onion, garlic or sesame.

In 1997 Karen Bradley, a retired nurse who still keeps her registration up to date, was looking for a place that offered good coffee and a pleasant, social atmosphere. Finding nothing that suited her taste, she and her husband Vincent, a former gastroenterologist, decided to open their own cafe. It was Karen's intention not to compete with local merchants and products, so the coffee is imported and the meals are strictly American country-style. She takes pride in the result of their untiring efforts. Baja Java is the place to go if you want to get together with old friends or meet new ones. And if you're interested in the latest local news or gossip, just keep yours ears open...

"We're the information and rumor hub of San Felipe," laughs Karen.
