Kathy Keane's passion for nature photography began in the 1970’s with her love of the outdoors and her career as a biologist specializing in endangered bird species. Over the past 30 years she has photographed the birds she has studied and the places she has explored, including the Sierra Nevada mountains, the southern California deserts, and the rugged coast of eastern Baja. She's also photographed the wildlife and scenery of Kenya and Tanzania, Costa Rica, the Hawaiian island of Kauai, the Galapagos Islands, the southern coast of Alaska, as well as Thailand, Italy, Ireland and Finland.
She has presented slide presentations
of her photographs and travels to groups such as local Sierra Club and
Audubon chapters. She’s framed many photographs and compiled calendars
of her photographs for friends and family but has only recently become
serious about sharing her photography with others via this website and
gallery showings. Kathy has been urged by friends and family members
for years to “do something with her photography,” so in 2005 she submitted
a portfolio of her photographs to the San Felipe Fine Art Association
(SFFAA), which juried her works and accepted her as a member. She will
present some of her best photographs at the SFFAA second annual Art
Show in March 2006. |
